This is all about Red Vines and failed romances. My real life person who I normally call Marc in my stories, is not really any part of this character. Yeah, Marc is the boyfriend, but not the serious boyfriend.
This story has many more pop culture references. For example, Chapter 1 is all about Red Vines (which if you don't know them are like fatter, thinner less sweet versions of Twizzlers, and brace face approved) and Moonrise Kingdom. I believe it is still playing in theaters, I still see ads for it. Totally worth it. Wes Anderson.
Moonrise Kingdom is my favorite movie and here is what you need to know. It is referenced all over the place in the book. Sam and Suzy love each other, they have been writing letters for a long time but they are both twelve. Sam keeps getting moved from foster home to foster home. Suzy is misunderstood by the parents she has (one of which is Bill Murray). Sam and Suzy decide to run away together. Sam is running away from the Khaki Scouts, where all the rest of the kids treat him as an outsider and Suzy is running away from a family that just doesn't really care about her.
Adeline narrates most of the story, but it will mainly switch between her and Beck. Beck is supposed to be grumpy. Adeline and Dr. Mc Intire are both great characters. Dr. Mc Intire can be spelled like that or how it is in the story, in the original draft, everyone called him Atticus, but the possessive is hard with names like that.
